About the writers..

"..and that's what I like about it - it's funny, crude and in-your-face but it has obviously been written by someone who can write."

and that 'someone' is these two..

Gary McArthur was born in Cyprus in 1965 and moved to the sunnier climate of Middlesbrough in the North East of England in 1966, having grown tired of the inclement weather of his birth country, and having progressed onto solid food. He could write before he was thirty five and was able to construct a sentence by his thirty sixth birthday. He is currently a Business Adviser for Business Link but hopes to make sufficient funds from the sale of this book to enable him to start claiming state benefits.

Andrew Baker was born in 1966 in Middlesbrough and never left. He attended Southlands Secondary School between 1977 and 1982 where he learnt to add and subtract, write short sentences and chew paper into a kind of paper-mache for firing through the tube of a Bic pen at unfortunate teachers, walls and ceilings. This was also where he met Gary McArthur. Together they formed a writing partnership which lasted for over twelve hours during which time they consumed copious quantities of 'Nigerian Lager' (Guinness) and created "The Baboon's Left Testicle." Andrew currently enjoys employment with BP, but aspires to be languishing at Her Majesty's Pleasure by the end of the year.

Andrew says: "There is a popular and widely used phrase regarding writing which goes, “There’s a book in everyone.” Thankfully mine was diagnosed at an early age and was surgically removed. I now only have the smallest of scars, left as a permanent reminder, and a ‘jar’ in which the offending item is contained (also as a reminder). Some twenty five years later the lid of the jar was lifted, with the help of my long established friend, and the contents resurrected for all to see, and more importantly read. Hope you enjoy “The Baboon’s Left Testicle”………

Gary says: "I, unlike my erstwhile friend, was not born with a book in me – an oversight on my Mothers part – which meant that I had to suffer the indignity of having one ‘grafted on’ at an age when most boys were enjoying the first stirrings of interest in football and girls. The emotional trauma of this ‘graft’ was finally buried, along with my Mother*, in the summer of 2007, when “The Baboon’s Left Testicle.” was created.

I hope you enjoy the book."

* 3rd October 2009 - My Brother has reminded me of an important fact - our Mother is actually not yet dead. (As far as can be determined.)
